Time Out
Each team is allowed three time outs per half. Any time outs not used at the end of a half are lost. They cannot be accumulated. Each team receives one additional time out during each overtime period. (See Overtime Rules)
Official Time Out
The officials may stop the game clock for a variety of reasons such as an injured player on the field. In a televised game, official time outs will be called to allow for commercials
Score
This signal indicates a touchdown, successful field goal or extra point(s).
Dead Ball
A ball remains in play until a player in possession of the ball is tackled or the ball goes out of bounds.
Safety
A safety occurs when a player causes the ball to die behind or on his own goal line. A safety awards the opposing team two points.
Offside
This penalty basically means a player was on the wrong side of the ball when the play began.
Face Mask
A player has been penalized for grabbing an opponent's face mask. Since this is a dangerous foul the penalty is very severe
Holding
Players are only allowed to "grab" the player holding the ball. Players should block their opponents with their bodies, not by holding them.
