Flag of the Week Updated August 6, 2005 Logos Draw NCAA Ire This week - 18 flags that may be on their way out... or at least on their way to court.The NCAA listed 18 member schools whose mascots, imagery, or nickname were patently offensive and would be banned from NCAA tournaments. Somehow, the Fighting Irish were omitted from the list. Alcorn State North Dakota Catawba College Florida State Midwestern St S.E. Oklahoma St. Indiana-Pennsylvania Carthage Coll. Bradley U. Arkansas St Chowan Coll. Illinois-Champaign Louisiana-Monroe McMurry U. Mississippi Coll. Newberry Coll. These schools were removed from the list and may retain their current mascots... Utah Central Michigan A few of the schools that were NOT affected... Notre Dame Fighting Irish San Diego St. Aztecs Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns Hawaii Rainbow Warriors William & Mary Tribe Southeast Missouri St. Indians Plus countless Spartans and Trojans (I guess their lobbyists died with Xerxes' invasion).
